Great Keppel Island Rejuvenation Project

Funding will be used to deliver common user infrastructure that stimulates tourism development on the island. Potential options include:

  • visitor facilities, including amenities and shade
  • boardwalks
  • rehabilitating existing walking trails
  • new walking trails
  • viewing platforms
  • signage upgrades
  • cultural initiatives
  • wastewater treatment
  • improving island access.

We are undertaking investigations into these options and working with Queensland Government agencies, Livingstone Shire Council and other key stakeholders to determine priorities to be delivered under the Project.

Common user infrastructure delivered under the Great Keppel Island Rejuvenation Project will support the outcomes of the Great Keppel Island (Woppa) Concept Master Plan. The plan was released on 23 April 2024.
